Since 2011, we've been helping our customers make informed choices about the seafood they buy. We display the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) blue fish tick on many of our products, making it easier to identify seafood from certified fisheries working to protect fish stocks and minimise their impact on the ocean.
This commitment has earned us the MSC Community Champion award in 2025 - the third time since 2022 - recognition of our ongoing engagement on ocean sustainability.
We know sustainability matters to our customers, which is why our own brand tuna has been ecologically responsibly sourced under our Seafood Sourcing Policy since 2022. This year, we've commenced transitioning all our own brand canned tuna across Australia and New Zealand to third-party MSC certification.
This means more than 35 products—including Woolworths Skipjack Tuna, Essentials Tuna Chunks and Woolworths Yellowfin Tuna—will be caught from MSC-certified fisheries and carry the MSC label. It's a straightforward step that makes sustainable seafood more accessible and affordable for the families we serve.
Our scale allows us to drive meaningful change. Our team is focused on delivering quality fresh food while protecting the resources our customers and communities depend on for the long term.
