Thursday, 7 May 2020: With this year's Mother’s Day looking different from previous years, Woolworths has for the first time launched contactless floral deliveries, plus a number of customer favourite specials across the store on chocolates and meat.

Mother’s Day is the biggest season for flower sales and Woolworths expects to sell over 450,000 flower arrangements in the week leading up to Mother’s Day alone.

To help make flower purchases easier, for the first time, Woolworths will be offering contactless delivery on select bouquets across 400 Woolworths stores, and 700 Stores will offer Pick Up on orders across Australia.*

Delivery partners Uber, Sherpa, and Yello will fulfill the floral deliveries as part of Woolworths announcement of teaming up with couriers and ride share operators to meet demand for online orders. Orders can be placed online at

Woolworths Managing Director, Claire Peters said; “We know this Mother’s Day will feel different to previous years; some families have had more quality time with their mums than ever before as they learn and work from home, while others have gone weeks or months without being able to hug their mum.

“But it’s more important than ever to celebrate mums, especially those who are working long hours to keep our communities safe and healthy.

“Flowers are always a popular gift during Mother’s Day, outdoing Valentine's Day by more than 55%. This year there is a great range of Australian-grown flowers widely available across our stores, with oriental lilies, gerberas, and tulips the pick of the bunch.

“We’re also proud to offer, for the first time, floral delivery and pick up in select stores to help make celebrating mum more convenient and safe. Where available, customers can order in advance to secure a bouquet, as we expect stronger than usual demand.”

To help reduce cost pressures, Woolworths today also launched special half price offers across a range of boxed chocolates, including Ferrero Rocher (6 pack 200g) $6.30 (WAS $12.60), Cadbury Roses (450g) $7.75 (WAS $15.50), Guylian Excellence (305g) $9 (WAS $18), and Lindt Lindor assorted gift box chocolates (235g) for $10 (WAS $20) when purchased with a bouquet of flowers.

Claire Peters said; “Chocolates are also a Mother’s Day favourite and we expect to sell 800,000 boxes this week. To ensure we have a range suitable for all budgets, we have a number of the most popular chocolate gift selections available at half price.”

For those looking to prepare a meal this Mother’s Day, you can look forward to meat specials including lamb leg from $11/kg in VIC NSW TAS, and a further reduction on boneless pork leg to $7.50/kg in QLD SA NT WA. Customers will also see specials on Porterhouse Steaks for $29kg (down $3/kg from $32kg) , Lamb Cutlets for $35kg (down $7/kg from $42/kg) and specials on a wide selection of fresh seafood.
