Thursday, 7 January 2016: Shoppers in the Beldon area will soon enjoy a revamped Woolworths supermarket as work on a $7.1 million, 10 week extension and refurbishment gets underway this week.
The upgrades to the store will provide enhanced choice and convenience for customers including improvements to the delicatessen, bakery, seafood, and fruit & vegetables area. In addition, the store extension has increased the store size by around 270 square metres.
The store will have new energy-efficient LED lighting, and the new aisle signage throughout the supermarket will help shoppers get around the store.
The supermarket entrance will be redesigned to allow easier customer access, and the layout for the checkout area has been improved and additional self-service checkouts installed to ensure customers can pay for their items quickly and get on with their day.
Woolworths Beldon Store Manager, Darryl Benstead, said the store is proud of the role it plays in the local community.
“We are delighted our local Woolies will be upgraded to create one of Australia’s most modern supermarkets. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience the revamp may cause. The investment will deliver a supermarket local residents will enjoy shopping in.
“These improvements will showcase our fresh Australian fruit, vegetables and meat, inspiring meal ideas, a wide choice of healthy options and a huge range of grocery items at great prices,” Darryl said.
Throughout the revamp customers can continue to shop at the store during the usual trading hours of 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm Saturday, and 11am to 5pm Sunday.
The investment is part of a wider refurbishment program across Western Australia with around 17 supermarkets undergoing significant upgrades or extensions this year.
