Security measures

We use a range of safeguards to protect your personal information from being lost, stolen, or seen by the wrong people. Here are a few of the ways we do this:

  1. We limit access - so only people who need your information to do their job can see it.

  2. We use technology controls - like encryption (which scrambles data) to protect sensitive information like your payment card details when it’s being sent over the internet and when it's stored in our systems.

  3. We secure our buildings - using physical security like swipe card access, to protect the locations where your data is stored.

Please do not include your full payment card details when you communicate with us via email, SMS or chat messages. If we have to make a reference to your payment card number, we never include the whole number in any form of written or electronic communications.

If we become aware of a data breach, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.

Protecting your personal information when it’s being shared

We sometimes need to share your personal information with other businesses, like partner companies where you use your Everyday Rewards card, or companies that help us run our business. Some of these companies may be based outside of Australia, such as companies that store our data or provide some of our technologies.

Here are some of the ways we help protect your personal information when it’s being shared:

  • We scramble your information (using techniques like ‘hashing’ and ‘salting’) to help make sure your passwords or personal information can’t be figured out.

  • We have contracts with these other businesses that legally require them to keep your information secure

  • We work closely with them to make sure that they have strong protections in place in line with our security standards.
