Thursday, 8 October 2015: Residents of Tamworth will soon see the launch of one of Australia’s most modern supermarkets when Woolworths opens the doors of its new store on Peel Street.
The $4.5 million store will officially open at 8.00am on Thursday, 15 October providing customers with fresh Australian fruit & vegetables, inspiring meal ideas, a wide choice of healthy options and a huge range of grocery items at great prices.
As part of our Local Sourcing Program, the store will look to promote produce from the Tamworth and surrounding area connecting customers with local fresh produce as much as possible.
Woolworths Tamworth Eastpoint Store Manager, Belinda Dawsib, said 150 people would be employed at the store creating employment opportunities for the local area.
“We are delighted that the opening of the new Woolworths sees us welcoming so many new people to the company from the Tamworth area.
“With 100 per cent of fresh meat and 96 per cent of fresh fruit and veg sourced from Australia, our store will highlight the wonderful seasonality of produce along with tips for the best uses for products,” Belinda said.
The new store will include a bakery, seafood behind the counter, a delicatessen, a pizza bar creating fresh pizza to order, a café and convenient on-site liquor store.
The store will include a focus on wellness with the Woolworths Macro range that includes free range, ‘free from’ and organic choices.
Twenty-four checkouts will be available for customers including traditional, express and self serve checkouts.
Woolworths Tamworth Eastpoint is celebrating the new store launch with donations to the local community including a cheque presentation to Calrossy School and St Nicholas School. Customers are welcome to join in all the opening day festivities.
The store will be open 6:00am to 10:00pm Monday to Saturday and 8:00am to 8:00pm on Sunday.
