Wednesday 12 November 2025: Woolworths has today unveiled Adelaide’s first new multi-million dollar online Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Keswick, to better serve the growing demand for online grocery shopping in Adelaide.

To keep up with customer demand for online delivery services, the CFC will double delivery capacity across Greater Adelaide. Stores will continue to manage Pick-Up and On-Demand orders through Direct To Boot Now, and MILKRUN.

The Adelaide CFC spans 9,500 square metres - equivalent to around two football fields - allowing team members to pick orders from over 25,000 products.

Amitabh Mall, Managing Director for eComX at Woolworths Group said: "When it comes to grocery shopping, customers are more and more looking for speed and convenience. Over the past four years, our online deliveries have expanded at an average rate of 20 per cent per annum and we see this continuing.

“With the Adelaide CFC, our seventh nationally, we're investing to meet that demand. It will increase online capacity by 15,000 orders a week and allow us to offer same-day and next day delivery across 130 postcodes across the Adelaide area, spanning over 3,0000 square kilometers."

Customers have the option to use Direct-to-Boot services, with 12 bays available - the largest Direct-to-Boot offering in South Australia - providing even more flexible and convenient shopping options for those looking to pick up their groceries to and from work.

Woolworths’ Adelaide Central Customer Fulfillment Centre Manager, Luke Oliver said: “Thanks to the brand new centre, alongside our hard-working, newly formed team, we’ll be able to significantly boost our order picking speed and accuracy - particularly during the busiest time of the year by picking and packing nine orders at a time.

“Customers can also enjoy the freshest baked goods throughout the day, thanks to our on-site production bakery operating twice daily, plus a full deli service featuring cold cuts and more.”

From December, proudly joining the Woolworths Adelaide CFC team  are over 30 First Nations team members, alongside over 30 refugee employees.

The new recruits were hired through Woolworths’ hiring program partners, SYC, and Community Corporate, diversity and inclusion employment agencies.

The new team members have been hired in permanent roles at the CFC, with the majority becoming ‘personal shoppers’ who hand pick and pack online orders for Woolworths’ customers.

Carmen Garcia, CEO and Founder of Community Corporate said: “We are thrilled to once again partner with Woolworths Group to provide these vital, career starting opportunities for refugees at the new Adelaide CFC. The success of our partnership is a direct result of our comprehensive pre-employment coaching combined with the Adelaide CFC leadership team's outstanding commitment to building a culturally safe and welcoming workplace before the doors even opened."

The new site marks a significant shift in how Woolworths delivers groceries, highlighting the way technology and people work together to enhance the online shopping experience for customers across South West Adelaide.

Woolworths commenced the build of Adelaide CFC in 2024 and has worked alongside CIP Construction & Sarah Construction group. With $60 million invested in the build, the CFC has been designed with the future in mind as the space has been considered for future automation, along with charging infrastructure to support Woolworths’ expanding EV fleet.

Woolworths Group now operate seven Customer Fulfillment Centres across the country, located in all major Eastern cities, and now also Adelaide at 213 Railway Terrace, Keswick Terminal.

Additional quotes from Dignitaries for Adelaide CFC’s launch:

SA Treasurer and Member for West Torrens, Tom Koutsantonis

This is a fantastic investment that will stimulate economic activity and create hundreds of local jobs – and I’m particularly pleased that this new centre is based in the West Torrens community.

The groceries and liquor sectors account for around 14.5 per cent of all online sales nationally and this is growing quickly - according to NAB’s Online Retail Sales Index, sales were up 2.8 per cent in South Australia in the month of September alone.

The growth of online shopping may be changing people’s retail habits but this giant 9,500 square metre facility’s opening is a demonstration that there is still plenty of capacity to generate local investment and local jobs.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister for Autism: Emily Bourke MLC

It’s fantastic to see a company like Woolworths making a significant investment in our state.

As online shopping and retail continues to grow, facilities like this new $60 million centre are critical to improving freight logistics.

This purpose-built site strengthens our freight and delivery network, supporting jobs while easing pressure on local roads and store operations.
