8 November 2022 – BIG W is inviting the nation to share in the true spirit of Christmas this year, with the return of its annual Giving Tree initiative. From now until Christmas Eve, customers can donate a gift at their local BIG W store, supporting families in need and helping to spread some joy to households across the country.

BIG W’s charity partner, Good360 Australia, has matched all 177 stores with a local charity, which will see the Giving Tree support 120 charity organisations and disadvantaged schools  across Australia, including women’s shelters, youth centres, schools, homeless shelters and children in hospital. Good360 will work with BIG W to ensure that each customer donation is delivered to members of the community that need it most.

Managing Director of BIG W, Pejman Okhovat, said: “Our BIG W stores have had a strong connection to their communities for over 50 years. Our annual Giving Tree initiative gives us the opportunity to support local charities and families at a time that is special for many families, but also a time of need. We were overwhelmed by the genorosity of both our customers and team last year, collecting and distributing over 11,000 gifts nationwide. With many households doing it tough this year, we want our customers to know that even the smallest gift can still make a big difference.”

Good360 has been a charity partner of BIG W since 2017, helping to match surplus goods to local families in need, essential goods to disaster-affected communities, and special gifts to vulnerable people during important celebrations such as Christmas, helping to provide hope and dignity.

Alison Covington AM, Good360 Founder & Managing Director, said: “While Christmas is a wonderful time for families, it can be a challenging time for the most vulnerable members of our communities. We’re very proud to once again be working with our long term partner BIG W to support families facing hardship after a difficult year. The Giving Tree will allow people who are in a position to give back to help share the magic of Christmas with other families and let them know they are not alone at this special time of year.”

In addition to the Giving Tree initiative, BIG W is again supporting five Children Hospitals* around the country by selling $2 and $5 tokens to raise much needed funds for life saving and life changing programs.

Customers can place unwrapped gifts under their local BIG W Giving Tree or purchase a Christmas Token from now until Christmas Eve. For more information, visit www.bigw.com.au

About Good360

A not for profit organisation, Good Australia is a connector. We connect charities, schools and society’s most vulnerable with businesses willing to donate unsold or surplus goods, services and disaster recovery essentials. Our mission is to ensure the excess goods and services businesses produce every year flow to people in need rather than going to waste.

The result is a Circle of Good that reduces need and waste in our communities at the same time so everyone benefits – from people to the planet.

Good360 has over 3,300 charity and disadvantaged school members, Australia wide, who order the goods they need from our website for their vulnerable communities. Since 2015, businesses have donated nearly $300 million (RRP value) worth of goods and Good360 has connected over 33 million brand new items to Australians in need to help provide hope and dignity.
