Thursday, 10 December 2015: Woolworths is set to open the new Vincentia Marketplace this week, creating a major shopping destination in Shoalhaven.
The new $50 million Woolworths Limited development will officially open on Friday, 11 December, providing customers with a new 4,200 square metre Woolworths supermarket, Aldi supermarket, and a great range of specialty retailers including a newsagent, pharmacy, cafe and restaurants.
In addition, the development on Moona Creek and Naval College Roads has created more than 500 jobs, including 150 jobs created during construction of the new Marketplace.
Woolworths General Manager of Operations (NSW), Andrew Hall, will be joined by the Federal Member for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis MP, the State Member for South Coast, Hon. Shelley Hancock MP, the Mayor of Shoalhaven City Council, Councilor Jo Gash, and Woolworths Director of Property, Ralph Kemmler, to celebrate the completion of the new retail destination.
The new Woolworths supermarket is one of Australia’s most modern, connecting customers directly with fantastic local producers. Customers can expect to see a large fruit & vegetable area, bakery, seafood behind the counter, delicatessen and a new meat servery, all helping to increase choice and convenience for local shoppers.
Mayor Jo Gash said the new Marketplace has been keenly anticipated by the local community. “The Marketplace provides a convenient, new shopping centre which benefits the local community through job creation and investment in the local area.
“I welcome today’s opening and look forward to the many benefits this major retail destination will bring to local shoppers,” she said.
Andrew Hall says the development represents a significant investment by Woolworths Limited. “We are delighted the new $50 million Vincentia Marketplace has created hundreds of jobs from the initial concept demand, through construction and now with an ongoing retail workforce from today.
“Locals will now have easy access to great retailers in a major shopping destination and community space, including one of Australia’s most modern Woolworths supermarkets,” he said.
The development’s opening ceremony will begin on Friday, 11 December at 8am and customers are welcome to join in the festivities. The Woolworths supermarket will open for customers shortly afterwards at 8.30am.
