Woolworths was proud to be involved and support the launch of The Salvation Army’s 2017 Red Shield Appeal at The Westin Sydney, last week. Woolworths Group CEO, Brad Banducci, delivered the keynote speech at the event, addressing the capacity crowd, including many from the business community.
Mr Banducci spoke about Woolworths’ purpose of bringing a little good to everyone every day, the commitments in the Corporate Responsibility Strategy and Woolworths’ focus on delivering good acts for the communities it serves.
Woolworths has a long-standing relationship with The Salvos, which most recently saw the launch of the S.T.A.N.D. program which provides Support Through Australian Natural Disasters. Woolworths will also support the Salvos with fundraising for the Red Shield Appeal outside its stores on the weekend of 27 and 28 May 2017.
The 2017 fundraising target for the Red Shield Appeal is $73 million which will go towards many community welfare programs including homeless shelters, family welfare assistance and refuges for women and children in crisis.
